He started out with his plywood. (Which, by the way, he did say he wouldn’t use if he did this again but instead go with MDF which has a plasticky outer shell and is less prone to blow out the back with the drill holes.)
Nevertheless, this material DID work.
He had a grid that would give him the pattern he needed to know what size holes would go where.
So he used that to grid out his plywood like so:
Then on to drilling the holes! It did get a bit messy…
But after that was done and the paint went on, this abstract map of the world hung so beautifully on his dining room wall!
Close up, it looks pretty cool, too.
I think it would be awesome in a florescent color like hot pink!
