1. Clean off your counters.
Random mail, papers, schoolwork and to-do lists all on your kitchen counter. Sound familiar? Keeping these items on the counter is such a hassle because it adds clutter to the kitchen and it also makes you feel disorganized. (Probably because you are.:)) If you find yourself everyday organizing these types of items everyday, this is the space-saver for you.
There is really nothing that cannot be organized on to a wall–even your pens, dry erase markers and to-do lists!
2. Get creative and practical with wall space.
Many might look at this space below and think about a shoe rack on the floor and a poster on the wall. But why waste that big beautiful wall. Think VERTICAL! This awesome vertical shoe rack covered by a simple curtain adds tons of shoe storage that is out of sight and does not infringe on the room or the closet space.
3. Use every inch of space.
Do you really need a giant coffee table that people keep walking into? This idea shaves less than one foot off the floor space of the room but offers tons of practical and out-of-the-way storage. Now all you need is a small ottoman to put your feet up.
4, Don’t forget about the ceiling.
You know how you can get a loft bed and put a desk underneath it? Well, a bed is not the only thing you can elevate. Try a hanging side table that is not only beautiful but allows you to still use the floor space underneath it.
5. Don’t close the door on using the doors.
The backs of doors are GOLDMINES of storage. There was a time when my husband used to say that all he had to do was hang some hooks on a door to make me happy. It was true. But don’t limit yourself to hooks for doors. You can utilize almost every square inch of a door back and gain storage for LOTS of household items. (Though I am not sure why anyone would need this much toothpaste on hand.)
6. Make your end table function also as a desk (or any other way you can work in a dual functionality).
Consider what areas in your home can serve a double-fuction. Do you have a spare 8-12 inches between your end-table and the wall? If so, this idea here of combining your end-table with your desk is genius. Most people need only a small space for a laptop to get most of their work done so why have chair nearby so that you don’t have to work at the kitchen table with kids whizzing by AND risk spillage on your computer.
