It's WISE to DIY: Thrify Ideas for the Do-It-Yourselfer

What Started Out As Scrap Wood Is Now A Treasure On My Wall

Have you ever seen a photograph that has been transferred onto a block of wood?  This is a very cool and unique way to display your photographs!

The more I think about this, the more I love this idea.  Especially for gifts!  Mother’s Day is coming up and what a wonderful gift idea this is for grandma–either from you or from the kids.

If you have a photo wall, a few of these scattered in among the framed photos would be amazing.

You would not believe how easy and fun it is to do this yourself!

The only items you need for this project are:

  • piece of wood
  • your picture printed on regular paper
  • Mod podge
  • Gel medium
  • paint brush
  • water and a rag

Here is how you do it:

  • Take your clean block of wood and using a paint brush, cover it with the gel medium
  • Place your paper picture side down onto the gel medium
  • Firmly smooth out all the bubbles
  • Let it dry overnight
  • Wet the surface of the paper with a wet rag and rub off the wetted paper until all the paper and paper residue is off. You will see your picture on the wood underneath!
  • Using a paintbrush, cover the picture with Mod Podge to protect and seal it

Voila!
