As hard as I try to keep the flashlight by the bed and emergency candles on hand, sometimes these things are not where I need them. I cannot tell you how many times I have grabbed that flashlight in a bind to find that it was dead. And of course those DD batteries–I buy them for myself and the kids use them in their toys. Not that any of this is an excuse, but it is nice to know that there is a household item that can save the day, if the day ever needs saving.
