A beautiful vintage map does not seem like the kind of thing you want to take a scissors to but if you are going to do this project then I say, “go for it!”

The touch of thin rope along the edges gives them a nautical touch and makes them masculine enough for a DIY gift for a dude. (If you are going to cut up a vintage map, you may as well make coasters for as many as possible.)
