It's WISE to DIY: Thrify Ideas for the Do-It-Yourselfer

A Great New DIY You Never Thought Of PLUS a New Way To Use Your Crock Pot!

As a DIYer, we understand the value of saving money by doing it ourselves.  I love to search for new and cool ways to explore the limits of DIY that I have never thought of.

Today, I found out that homemade yogurt is a simple and totally economical thing to add to the list!

According to the site Practical Stewardship:

The part of our grocery bill that can be slashed the most is yogurt.  I have bought the individual-sized yogurts for years and that racks up the grocery bill.  Making yogurt in half gallon batches is a total money saver because it basically costs you the price of a half gallon of milk and maybe a small yogurt container (if you need a start)! So in our area for about $1.25-1.50 you could have a half gallon of yogurt, and if you prefer organic, it’s about $3 for the half gallon. You can not beat that price for that quantity!

I am sure most of us can relate to spending lots of money on store-bought yogurt that happens to also be filled with artificial sweeteners, and packed in a container that will end up in a landfill.  This DIY is a good one no matter how you look at it.

You can top and sweeten this yogurt any way you like.  One of my secrets that my kids LOVE is flavored stevia.  They are especially fond of the chocolate stevia that I always have on hand.  A few drops of this stuff in unsweetened yogurt makes a chocolatey treat that has 0 grams of added sugar and nothing artificial!

I make my crockpot yogurt with organic ingredients and I hope you will, too.
