When you walk into a room you can see the space itself or you can see the POTENTIAL of that space.
Sometimes, seeing the potential means envisioning a wall coming down or a putting in more windows or replacing an old door with a bigger sliding glass one. It’s possible that all the space needs is a coat of paint. Maybe a coat of paint is just what it needs UNTIL you can do the bigger jobs you really want to do.
Either way, painting can seem like a daunting task and I am not going to lie, it can be! I painted house exteriors in college and that was NO joke. The most important thing I learned about painting through that experience is that the secret to executing a good paint job is all in the prep work. When the scraping, sanding, taping off and priming are done correctly and not short-cutted, that is when you end up with a paint job that looks great and lasts for years.
Not too many of us are going to attempt to DIY an exterior paint job because when you are dealing with exterior paint, you involve sprayers, extension ladders, 5 gallon buckets of paint that are freaking heavy…I could go on! But to tackle an interior job IS DOABLE, if you know what you’re doing.
I found a great article on livelovediy.com written by a woman who transformed her home by painting over all the old wooden trim. She knows what she is doing and she is sharing all her knowledge!

what a courageous move….looks like there was some structural changes as well though…from DR to kitchen the doorway wall looked to have been knocked out. Overall it looks beautiful.
