Talk about making lemonade from lemons! This is just the coolest re-purposing of an old unwanted piece of furniture ever!
This is an incredible piece that has great style, great functionality and is off-the-charts as far as upcycling is concerned.
This cart can be used indoors/outdoors or both. The heavy duty hardware and castors that are used make it very durable. I love the idea of having it stocked with the utensils, cooking sprays, spices, cutlery and napkins that you need for every outdoor meal. I don’t ever want to leave all that stuff outside overnight but have never seen a solution for this.
If you don’t have an old filing cabinet around like this one, Craig’s List would be your best bet. I am sure you could find one for a steal.
Here is what you will need:
Materials:
- Secondhand filing cabinet
- Spray metal primer
- 2 cans spray paint
- Two rolling casters and two locking casters
- A cutting board or piece of butcher block that’s at least the size of the top of your filing cabinet
- Two inexpensive horizontal towel racks
Tools:
- Mineral spirits or sticker remover
- Electric drill
- 1⁄8” and 1⁄16” drill bits
- 24 1⁄8” bolts, 1/2 – 1” long
- 24 1⁄8” nuts
- 4 #8 short screws
- Washers (if necessary)
