Here is all you will need:
- Chalkboard paint
- Small tupperware (for dipping)
- Blue tape
- Cardboard
- Parchment paper
Instructions:
- Make sure the glasses are nice and clean.
- Wrap the lower stem of each wine glass with the blue tape to mark off the line where you want the chalkboard paint to stop.
- Pour about an inch of the chalkboard paint into your small tupperware. (The tupperware needs to be big enough for the whole bottom of the wine glass to fit.) Place the tupperware on the cardboard for a big workspace that won’t dirty up your table.
- Dip the glass bottom into the paint so that it is fully covered and then swirl it around so that all the excess drips off. Leave it sitting on its side with the base hanging over the tupperware for a few minutes to ensure that there is no more dripping. Like so:
- According to justshortofcrazy, dripping was a problem and so this is how they solved it:
So my solution was to take some parchment paper and place on the cardboard. Then I just set the glass upright on the parchment. After about 20 minutes I moved the glass to another area so that it didn’t dry with the excess paint attached to it. It worked like a charm.
After the glasses are fully dry, they are ready for use! Make sure you have chalk on hand near the bar so that the guests can label their own drinks.
Have fun with these glasses and don’t forget that chalkboard paint comes in lots of colors so you are not limited to black!
This is also a wonderful and inexpensive gift for someone who likes to entertain.
Do you entertain a lot? What is your signature hostess move? Do you have a special drink or appetizer that you can tell us about?
Thank you to justshortofcrazy for this great tutorial! See their site for lots more pics of this project.
