It's WISE to DIY: Thrify Ideas for the Do-It-Yourselfer

DIY Teeth Whitener For CENTS!

If you have ever spent the time and the money to have your teeth professionally whitened then you know how costly it is.  It is also time consuming!  My husband bought a pro whitening kit from the dentist and has never used it!  I am still made at him about that…ARGH!

There is actually a great DIY process to whiten.  I love it because it costs just cents and you do not need to leave anything on your teeth in trays.  Just brush it on and rinse like a regular brushing .

Here is the process:

Mix baking soda and lemon or lime juice to make a paste and brush.  That’s all!

Do this once a week only to make sure you are not damaging your enamel.  If you are concerned with the lemon or lime acid you can also use water instead.

According to MDHealth:

Baking soda can be successfully used to remove stains and discolorations from the surface (enamel) of teeth, thereby given teeth a whiter and brighter appearance. Brushing your teeth with baking soda removes stains caused by drinking tea, coffee, and sodas as well as chewing tobacco and smoking. Mixing baking soda and water releases free radicals from the mixture. These free radicals break down the stain molecules on the enamel, which can then be scraped off the teeth using a toothbrush.
