The solution for those just-about-burnt (foods): the freezer. When something like nuts, tart shells, coconut, or breadcrumbs were roasting in the oven and went just a bit too far—they reached that deep, dark color and nutty smell that comes right before burning—we immediately plunged them into the freezer to instantly stop the cooking process. This quick change in temperature instantly halts the cooking process, stopping burning in its tracks.
So the next time you find yourself inhaling the smell of your food starting to burn, run and get it out of the oven or toaster, transfer it to a new tray and throw it in the freezer! This will work for nuts, pastry dough, toast, pie crust, coconut, breadcrumbs, etc.
Pass this tip on to all the folks you know who use their kitchen!

Except the toast in the picture is already burned lol. I also do the freezer thing when its not yet burned but about to be though. Burned toast goes to the furbabies though with peanut butter on it lol
