Multiplication is a subject that plagued many of us in school. It is no wonder that this is not the scene in Japan. They clearly have a much simpler way of solving tough multiplication problems that requires very little time, very little addition and no memorization of times tables.

Pretty incredible, right? If nothing else, this would be a fun game to play in restaurants with your kids. Give them a tough problem, see if they can solve it with this technique and then check the answer on your phone calculator. I’ll definitely be using it for that!
