It's WISE to DIY: Thrify Ideas for the Do-It-Yourselfer

I Thought Filling A Cookie Sheet With Shaving Cream Was Pretty Silly Until I Saw What Happened Next!! SO COOL!

KID-FRIENDLY PAPER MARBLING

Supplies:

  • Watercolor paper
  • non-gel shaving cream
  • liquid water-color paints
  • Cookie sheet
  • wooden skewers
  • cardboard
  • duct tape
  • ruler
  • plastic droppers

Directions:

First make a smooth layer of shaving cream covering half the cookie sheet.

Drop a random pattern of your chosen water colors throughout the shaving cream.

Use your wooden skewer to swirl the colors into a pretty pattern.  (Or make a comb with the skewers by following the directions on step 5 on the makers mess site.)

Put your paper directly into the shaving cream ensuring full contact with all corners.

Peel your paper off the shaving cream and set it down shaving cream side up.

With your ruler, scrape off all the shaving cream.

Your gorgeous paper will be underneath!  Make sure you scrape it all off and leave it to dry completely.

So PRETTY!!

Check this out to see the scraping step:

You can use this beautiful paper for so many things.  Perhaps stationary, as a backdrop for a cute sketch or just to frame and put up on the wall as-is.

What fun have you had with shaving cream lately?  (Only PG ideas, please!!!)

Thank you to makersmess for this fun tutorial!! Go to their site for lots more deets and pics of this craft plus so much more fun for kids.  I LOVE their DIY Creature Kits that allow kids to–obviously–create their own creatures!!
