All you need
- Simple sneakers
- Decoupage (Matte or glossy finish, your choice)
- Glitter
- Paint Brush
- Masking tape
Instructions:
- To prep the shoes: 1) remove the laces, 2) cover the sole of the shoe with masking or blue painter’s tape and 3) stuff the shoes with paper to keep them firm and to keep the glitter out.
- Put out a large piece of paper to work on so you can recycle the glitter that falls. (An opened up paper grocery bag works well)
- Using the paint brush, apply the decoupage to a small section. (You don’t want to cover the shoe in decoupage because it may dry before you have a chance to apply the glitter. Work in sections.)
- Sprinkle the glitter over the decoupage. Shake off the excess. Continue this way, working in sections, until both shoes are covered.
- Let dry for several hours. (It needs to be completely dry or the second coat of decoupage will pull up the glitter.)
- Apply a second coat the exact same way. Let dry completely again.
- Apply a third coat of decoupage to seal the glitter to the shoe. Let dry.
- Voila!
Now you can rock these like the shoe designer that you are!
