I grew up always having a hide-a-key for our house. With 4 kids, it was used ALL THE TIME. The two rules we had for our hide-a-key were 1) don’t tell your friends where it is and 2) always put it back RIGHT after you use it-before you even go in the house! (If it wasn’t there when you needed it, it got ugly.)
Needless to say, I am a big fan of the hide-a-key and this is one of the best ways to hide it that I have ever seen.
One of the most important things about the spot you choose is that it is not in plain view of passers-by. You want it out of the way enough so that no one ever sees you take it out or put it back. Also, its a good idea to move it to a different spot from time to time.
Here is the perfect vessel to hide your key!
Materials:
- Pill bottle
- E6000 glue
- Rock (bigger than the bottle cap)
Directions:
- Glue the rock to the cap of the pill bottle.
- Put your key in it.
- Find a hiding spot that hides the bottle completely. (If you don’t have a cluster of rocks to put it in, consider digging a small hole in the dirt and just setting it in there with the rock above the soil.)
