This bookshelf is a very popular item at Ikea. I have one in fact and it sits between my boys twin beds, double-tasking as a bookshelf and end table for each of their beds. (Perhaps that’s a triple-task?)
I never saw a kitchen island in this piece though!

Nice, but I would make it larger by placing TWO bookshelves together and a larger “overhang” for stools…that’s the great part about DIY, yoy can custom stuff any way you like!

Would love this, only with top boards extended about six inches on both ends, use corbels for stability…put stools under each end for use as eating table!!
