  1. Military wives living in base housing, couldn’t paint the walls,so would do this same thing using sheets of the right color or pattern and place them on walls. Corn starch seemed easier to wash off.

  2. Debbie says:

You could use something other than cornstarch. You could use paint and thin it out. Or maybe another substance. It is really a beautiful idea. Anything else, paint, etc… You could scrape off to remove it with a little goo gone or paint remover product. Keep sharing 🙂

  3. gonna try this on my frech doors

  4. Blessings for this child and family

  5. Fishing net might work for a boys room.

  6. Never heard of this one……I use to do all of the Faux Stain Glass & I just loved it all!!!

  7. Diane Owens says:

What about burlap for a guy’s room? I think that would work really well!

  8. Julia Rusch says:

I used a glue stick and painted the windows over my door, it dried to look like frosted glass. I have all the light with all the privacy, alot less work and mess also.

    • Dear Ms.Rusch,I’m on strict budget,I live in a studio, this idea sounds perfect.Did you apply the glue stick only once and in what direction,up and down maybe, then across? I’d be grateful for any help with this idea.Rosie

I think this is what I`ll try—-What Julia said seems less messy

    • Dejele says:

      How do you clean this?

    • ClassyCouple says:

When you used a glue stick–did you then put some lace or something over it as is shows in the video? I’m not sure if you are saying you used glue stick in place of the cornstarch mixture or is you just coated the window with glue stick only?
I have the bottom half of a bathroom window that I want to obscure for privacy, but without using a curtain or shade that blocks light.
      Thanks

    • I am really interested in this idea. But don’t know how

I would use a lightweight cammo or other boys themed cloth, for a boys room.

  15. Joy Woodhall says:

awesome idea, WHEN I get ready to do this I will you watered down mod podge or watered down white Elmer glue. I worry about the moisture getting on the windows and the lace sliding off and maybe even the cornstarch start to mildew? The glue and mog podge will dry clear.

  16. Lynda says:

If you use a food product ‘cornstarch’, then don’t be surprised when the bugs show up to eat it. Bad idea.

  17. Alice says:

You could do this with any type of fabric that is open weave. Think athletic shirts, gym bags, nylon mesh, etc.

For boys room , instead of water mixed with cornstarch, you might try some food coloring. Any color you would like, and it also go with the colors in the room.

  19. Rosie says:

This looks great but would it be easy to remove if you didn’t want it on the Windows anymore?

  20. Rosie says:

Looks great. But would it be easy to remove at a lat stage if you didn’t want it any more

  21. Deborah says:

I did this with colored tissue paper and looked loke a stained glass window. After pieces dry use a black marker to make “sodder lines”

  22. holly says:

I have made themed wall coverings out of just cotton fabric. I used liquid starch. You just put the fabric in the liquid starch, make sure all of it gets wet. Wring it out and then smooth it out on the wall. Plaids don’t work well because of matching it up. I have also used fabric for a border. I just cut the fabric the size I wanted and did the same process. It’s a little harder to get straight lines, but it is possible. If you want to take it down, just peel it off. You can also reuse the fabric. Just wash it or if you are going to use it on the wall again, just redo it in the liquid starch.

  23. Nancy says:

How well does this hold up on cold windows in the winter?

How does it hold up if window sweats? Can you do this for a bathroom window?

  28. sand rae says:

It would be cute to use regular cotton fabric, that has the kid’s favorite cartoon or character on them. It would be easy to remove when they grow out of it.

  29. Rosalee says:

Just use Tulle…comes in all kinds of colors…masculine ones too 🙂

  30. carrie says:

Use window paints. Use clear and white. Or clear and white with a color. Amber looks cool.

  31. Bonida Kimbrough says:

What happens when the window sweats?

  32. I really like thia!

  37. Bonnie Gill says:

go to dollar store and buy sheer curtains, or Walmart, target. they should have different patterns like Camo, or baseball, football ,etc should give you an idea.

  38. Laura Wagner says:

My daughter did something similar on a window on her dorm suite door, She used colored tissue paper with liquid dish soap….drying long somewhat like stained glass and was very easy to remove at the end of the school year with a water spritzer and came off clean!

  39. Sue Wilson says:

You can make it more masculine by getting some camoflage netting and using it in place of the lace. or any fabric with a woodsy, fishing, sports, etc. type scene.
It will come off easily when it needs laundered then you just reapply with starch and you are good to go. works on walls too.

  40. honita ramdenee says:

Great idea. Can we use other fabrics?

  41. cheryl says:

if you wash lace first it probably wouldn’t shrink. and talking about for boys or guys get colored tulle. they have it now with patterns
