This DIY is quick, easy, fun and cheap.  What could be better!?

If you have any windows in your home or apartment where you want the natural light but need a little privacy, this is a truly lovely solution.

Granted, it is a bit feminine but I am wondering how we can use this idea and make it masculine, as well…

    Anyone know how this holds up in a bathroom – I would have thought the steam/humidity might cause issues. The pic shows a shower right next to it though, so pondering?

  4. @ Lindsay Day You could even use this mixture for snowflakes or angels or whatever on your windows for the holidays.

    You could camp netting that hunters use in a fabric store or a hunting supplies; hope this helps.

    I used the same formula but with some colored cellophane. I cut different colors to mimic a stained glass window. One window I used black permanent marked to make the ‘leaded’ lines, on the glass only(!) as it will wash off the glass. Looked pretty cool.

    I was thinking even a light weight linen in a solid color would work well for men/boys. I will say that liquid starch also works well.

    Actually I’ve seen some amazing lace panels, that would work for guys, with hunting animals and scenes like elk, ducks, fly fisherman, or even just mountains and trees. They are a little more expensive, but beautiful.

    you could use food coloring in the corn starch to see if it work and being that it is colored it might work for a boys room

  18. many yrs ago, I saw a demo using beaten egg whites and textured rice paper (or any handmade, textured, paper)… it gave the same effect, giving privacy yet allowing diffused light.

    How about when you want to remove it? Is it easy to wash off? It’s so pretty but I won’t want to keep it on.

    They make window vinyl in a number of prints or textures that you use. Actually there are a lot of products that can work including wax paper, translucent papers, old fashion ‘Glass Wax’ , sponge painting, etc.

    A man might like lace on his window — and there are a lot of styles of lace. But I was thinking of thin rice paper with a charcoal-pencil drawing on it.

    You might use a light weight gingham, They come in a variety of colors of blues and greens.

    Would adding a drop of food color, say red or blue add a boy touch and just do strips of sheer in a plaid pattern?

    How do you get it off ? And if you have any kind of condensation on your windows in winter Im guessing it would not work either .

    Lace is beautiful. In the past I’ve used tissue paper to do the same thing, so many prints to choose from!

  33. faster to just make the cornstarch solution, and dip the panels, cut to size first, in it, and slap ’em on. smooth them, adjust as you need to. one basic step.
