Lovely, but how do you clean them when they get dirty. I have a problem with mould on the window panes.

  6. Joan Scharf says:

this does not work. If you are trying to put this on windows that are not taken down and lie flat on the ground, the cornstarch mixture does not hold the lace panel in place for you to paint on, it just keeps falling down. might work if you took the window down and laid it on the floor, otherwise, cornstarch does not make fabric stick to a glass window while it is wet.

  7. Bertha Rand says:

I bet a piece of burlap for the guys would look nice.

  8. What a novel idea.. thanks for sharing

  9. Sherry MacDonald says:

Sheer fabric in a leopard print is available for the boys’ rooms.

What about tulle? In a color to match or contrast with the room? Maybe?

  13. Mary Blankenship says:

You could do this on an old recycled window and just set it on the windowsill in front of your window. You could make one for each season and spice up the room.

  14. thats a great idea for a window that has had moisture in between the glass and you just can’t get it clean.

  15. I thought the lace was going to be used as a stencil, leaving the cornstarch in a pattern on window.

  16. Kathy Dykes says:

I would look for a snowflake pattern for the winter time.

  17. Pretty, and hides dirty windows

I saw someone use bubble wrap. Could be more masculine.

  20. Great idea. Wondering how an man’s white shirt or your idea of a light plaid. Lot’s of light could come through both of those as long as you don’t go to dark with the fabric. Also Goodwill could be a great source for a thinner fabric shirt(s) well worn and washed a lot.

  21. Great idea, maybe burlap for boys.

  22. It works. I have done this .

  23. How about windowmuffins

Does it come off easily and is it going to mess the window up after you take it down?

  25. Vickie Johnson says:

You could use printed fabric of cartoon characters, golfers, ducks, boaters, etc. and cut out the designs and make your own design for children or men,

  26. Angie Amador says:

You can also do this with liquid starch. The beauty of it is that you can also wash it off with warm soap and water.

Wonder if will work in a steamy bathroom?

  28. This turns out beautiful ! Great idea !

  29. i need to do this to my windows to keep a certain nosy neighbor from gawking in whenever she feels the need to pass my window. of course that wont keep her from blowing her nasty cigarette smoke into my window when shes outside smoking. she even went so far as to offer to allow my youngest to smoke in her kitchen where his mom wouldnt find out. FYI. he doesnt smoke he can’t stand the smell of them anymore than I can.

  30. Susan Frump says:

not the first time…but when i saw it done, it was done with fabric on walls that were in a rental, and coudn’t be painted…i believe the idea was in a book written by a navy wife with a dozen moves? it did n harm to the walls…

  31. Alison says:

What is corn starch please. I live in Kent, UK does anyone know where I can buy it gtreatkdea. Xx

  32. Jodi Leabres says:

I did this in the 80’s to the lower half of my living room under the chair rail with a floral fabric…it was beautiful…you can customize your walls to match your decor. I may do this again and I have some windows that lace would look good on. Thanks for the refreshing memory!

What about good old spray adhesive? It’s not affected by sweaty windows.

  34. Betsy Morris says:

Amelia Morris this is cool. Kelsey Stewart

  35. Michelle Bishop thanks for sharing this. I may try this in my sewing room for some privacy.

  36. sheree frey says:

For a boys room perhaps just some assorted colors of tulle netting would look cool! Like red/blue if they are ‘into’ Spiderman or shades of Green for Ninja Turtles or even school colors!

  37. Claudette Sova says:

You could use some burlap to apply to the windows.

  38. Susan says:

I would think that the cornstarch would provide a nutrient base and it would get moldy. Don’t know if something more refined, like wallpaper paste (methyl cellulose) would last longer. Or, perhaps mixing it with Borax would make it less likely to grow stuff. Has anyone done this & had it on their windows for years? Guess that if it got funky you could just take it off & do it again.

  39. Bill says:

Is it removable so you could change from say season to season for a theme? How hard to remove it >

  40. jamie says:

HOW ABOUT TULLE! (wedding veil material) Tulle comes in so many colors! There are great GUY colors! You could even make it camo with a few different colors!!!
