This DIY is quick, easy, fun and cheap. What could be better!?
If you have any windows in your home or apartment where you want the natural light but need a little privacy, this is a truly lovely solution.
Granted, it is a bit feminine but I am wondering how we can use this idea and make it masculine, as well…
Maybe you can think of some ideas as you scroll down the next page…

Great idea.
I’m going to go do this RIGHT NOW. Awesome tip!
since i rent i would have to remove when i move does it clean up easily
wow, what a great idea….
i use a MATTE MEDIUM from Art Supply store. paint on any window or door (glass panes) when it’s dry it looks like Frosted Glass. it’s water-based, easy to clean up, easy to remove when you no longer want it covering your window
interesting
Just remember that at night and on dark, cloudy days when the light is turned on inside the room people outside can still see inside. It is not vision proof so be careful.
Just remember that this is a decoration and not a substitution for privacy. If you are considering using this in a bathroom or bedroom in particular, at night and dark, cloudy days when you turn on the inside light people outside can still see inside the house. So just consider this and be careful.
Love that !
I’m doing this with my daughter, beautiful!
Love The Look Of The Finished Product.
colored organza would work nicely — you could cut it into shapes for a ”stained glass” effect…
Would netting in a color to match his room work? Or window clings? I bought some clear plastic window cling material at Lowe’s to do just that. Works very well, but pricey. Been up nearly 2 yesrs. The window in front just looks like that rippled glass. I would do the lace thing in a bedroom window in a minute. Lol
Great idea!
You can get camo-netting for the hunters in the family or tulle (used in weddings not sure if spelled right) and paint/dye different colors. Think I will try the camo netting.
I have one of those half moon windows and when my neighbors are out on their deck they can see right in. This would be a perfect solution!
This is a cool idea. I am thinking a mesh camo for a boy’s room.
Maybe burlap??
i’m doing this
Then you don’t have to wash windows!
Boys room I would use burlap! It comes in many colors now….
Frosted contract paper for windows works great too. Lets the light in, but you get privacy.
Thia is cool!
Debbie Heddy Holtgard. Good find.
we could do something like this on your windows…
white mosquito mesh, works too and doesn’t have a ‘design’ per se
It does not fall off when it gries?
dries
Pretty, but you’ll get weevils eating the starched cloth. And since they’re in the area, your sweaters.
have done this, looks really good, but when it rain or if it’s too hot, it starts lifting and it does shrink when it dries …
Joann Chester this is Awesome wonder how long it would last & how hard to clean off?
exactly the idea I need….will try this …thanks
Oh, I like this very pretty…….
Very interesting
will try this soon !!

I would do this in a second on my camper windows. I wonder how it would hold up to moisture. Anybody tried this yet?
See that’s what I was wondering too since I would do this on my camper windows and there is definitely a moisture problem.
you might try a “mesh” type fabric for a boy’s window- or a very thin sheer and add cut outs of boats, planes, basketballs and other sports equipment
For the guys, use camo mesh.
I’ve seen this before. It’s so cool. I wanna do it maybe in our new house
Loose weave burlap
really cool
I would think regular netting material would work for a boys room, love the idea
very pretty.
Neat! Being this is plant based, how long does it last and was there any issues with bugs?
2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and paint in on the window..follow with lace, cut and place on window and dry with rag.
If you put a SMALL amount of food color in with the cornstarch, you get a church window effect
The hardest part is getting the lace cut to the perfect fit :/
Make a template out of a paper bag. Then lay that on your lace and cut around the paper bag template.
tape newspaper against window, trace along edge of window, cut it..viola use as template to cut lace 😉
Burlap is masculine- as well as the plastic mesh bags you get onions.
I have done the same thing with liquid starch and tissue paper.
Use bubble wrap instead of lace for more masculine look.
Great idea. Bubble wrap would help keep heat in and cold out during the winter months.
