It's WISE to DIY: Thrify Ideas for the Do-It-Yourselfer

She Transformed This Dresser And It’s Absolutely Unrecognizable From What It Looks Like Here!

No offense, (and I am hoping my readers do not have a dresser like this in their home) but this dresser could not be uglier.

That didn’t stop the genius over at centsationalgirl (now I really understand why she calls herself that) from taking a crack at it.

The first thing she did was remove and ditch those horrible door fronts:

After she took a power sander to the whole thing, she primed it:

She replaced the door fronts with custom cut mirrors and used white lattice boards to make X’s on the mirror fronts.

She painted the whole dresser in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Pure White (folks really LOVE this paint) and added some pretty glass knobs.

And WHAT a transformation!

Can you even believe this?  I can’t.  I really can’t.

Have you ever refinished a dresser?  Can you show us your before and after’s?  We would love to see them!

Thank you so much to centsationalgirl for documenting this DIY and sharing it with us!  See her site for more details on the inspired project.

  1. looks like an old stereo, loved those things still have 2

  2. Amanda Galloway, check this out.

  3. She (whoever she is) did a great job but that is not a “dresser”, it’s a credenza – a cabinet for storage, used in a living room or a dining room, with the top often used for serving food. A dresser has drawers for holding clothing and is used in a bedroom.

  4. Thanks! I really love this stuff. I have had to put a holt on what I see potential in 😉 my projects are lining up. I am working on two desks right now…one I really wish I had a sander. For now I am calling it a piece with character. Ha. That dresser is amazing and makes me want to go look for one!
