You are not going to believe what this guy made in his kids closet. I can honestly say that I would of never thought it was possible, but now that I have seen this, I will NEVER forget it!
And the fact that this costs about $75 will blow your mind!
First he cleared out everything but the very top shelf, and built a platform almost half way between the shelf and the floor:
Simply, install a cleat along the walls, screwing into the studs. Level the front 2×4 with the back and install the cross beams between them.
After putting plywood on the top, he went to Home Depot and cut out a 3″ foam pad:
Framing the platform is the hardest part. Then just cut the plywood to size affix to the top.
Next he hung a clothing rod and shelves underneath:
Still a closet, there needs to be room for hanging clothes and toys. The clothes rod mounts between both side walls – but in the picture, he only utilizes half of it.
Finally, he built a ladder, painted and installed some finishing touches:
Other than framing the platform, the ladder takes some measuring and patience. Then all the front facing wood needed to be sanded and painted.
Voila! A finished Closet Loft Bed!
The changes I might want to make is some sort of railing and a better way to remove the sheets. But by and large, a top notch design and idea.
